The courses are offered according to the syllabus of the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training, Odisha.

Lateral Entry

Additional seats, 20% of intake capacity is available for ITI students & +2 students to take admission directly in the 3rd Semester. 5% of the students are also taken in TFW scheme.

Community Development Through Polytechnic

Community Development through Polytechnic scheme funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India was introduced in this institution from 2009-10. Its main objective is to provide Community - Institute interface so that science & technology inputs can be transferred to community through skill development trainings, technology transfer and organization of support services for bringing socio-economic upliftment & improvement of quality of life. Different short term training programmes are conducted in employable trades like Basic computer Application, Tally, Mobile Repairing , Cutting & Tailoring , Garment designing ,Welding & Fabrication, Tailoring, Beauty Culture etc. for the rural youth, women and other disadvantaged groups.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE SCHEME(SDIS)

The institution is identified as vocational training provider by department of Directorate General of Employment & Training, , Government of India to provide vocational training to school drop out, existing workers, ITI graduates etc to improve their employability skills . Existing skills of the person can also be tested and certified under this scheme.

 

Entrepreneurship Development Cell

The Entrepreneurship Development cell (EDC) an AICTE sponsored project was established in S.KD.A.V Government Polytechnic Rourkela with effect from 23rd December 2006. The main objective of the cell is to create an environment for self employment and entrepreneurship development through formal & non formal programmes and to promote employment opportunities through different skill development programmes.

 

Extra Curricular Activities

The institution compound accommodates a playground of substantial expanse. Equipments to conduct various indoor and outdoor games are provided to students to maintain their physical fitness and standard. The institution also conducts annual sports and other extracurricular activities.
