CRITERIA
The Beauty Culture Department was Established 19 years back in the year 1996 here at Government Polytechnic, Bhubaneswar as the only institution in the state of Odisha and in Eastern India which provides complete 2 years Diploma course in Beauty culture along with various Central and State Government Employment Programs.
In India, the emphasis has been on general education, with vocational education at the receiving end. This has resulted in large number of educated people remaining unemployed. This phenomenon has now been recognized by the planners and hence there is a greater thrust on vocationalisation of education.
The mission to have Beauty Culture and Cosmetology course as an integral part of Education is to make Girl child skilled and self-dependent. Also as the wellness and Beauty becoming the thrust for the masses and the beauty business is growing in volume and many MNC's are coming up with well & fully equipped wellness centre and Beauty clinics across the state and the region so there is an Enormous demand of well trained beauticians and cosmetologist , so seeing the growing demand the major mission is to impart proper education and to create employment for the students who wants to pursue the course and make them trained and self sufficient.
The vision is to impart quality education through research and development in various sector of beauty, health and cosmetics.

- Degree Courses in Beauty Culture and cosmetology
- To create revenue(I.R.G) through running full time standardized wellness centre( skin, hair, yoga, aerobics and gymnasium)
- To make skilled, employment and self-dependent to BPL(Below Poverty Line) Girl child to lead a peaceful, healthy and secured life.
The goal is to have trained students which is otherwise termed as "Beauty with Brains". Beauty here consists of both internal and external beauty of an individual.
